Phantom 105.2 interview
Phantom 105.2's John Caddell caught up with legendary frontwoman Courtney Love. She dishes the dirt on Billy Corgan, talks about living in a castle in Drogheda, photographing U2 in the 80s, and the movie roles she turned down.

Guessing PCH may be the new plans instead of Samantha then. I want to know what her plans for Samantha were. A cracking video? That would make me so happy.
YAY!!

"Pardon ?" lol Irish is interesting ....
nice listening to you, courtney. this is pure courtney rock n roll power. great. "it ll come back n crush you" is the new "someday you will ache like i ache" luv ya, c
Fantastic interview, it is clear she is still excited by Nobody's Daughter tour / promo's and great she is talking about future projects with the comment about recording 40 tracks for ND and has not made her Blood on the tracks yet... It is also nice to hear her discription of Melissa as "my darling Melissa". Goes to show you how much crap the press make up as Courtney always wanted Melissa's involvement but she unfortunately had commitments with her own solo album released around the same time. Neither Courtney nor Mel said anything negative in the press it was only Eric about non inclusion (and due to the discovery of how many people stiffed Courtney with costs that they had no right to, including Eric, I do not think she will ever include him in her Hole projects in the future). I think Court would employ Mel in a heart beat if she was available though.
"nor Mel said anything negative in the press"
Err, that's not the impression I got (in the interviews I've read) .... though she is atleast trying to be understanding.
Courtney sounds very nice and calm here, most of the time I imagine her as chaotic and bitchy, but she sounds very soft, articulate and non-adhd ?
I read an interview with Erlandson on grungenet.com and he sounded like a jealious bitter little jerk. I'm happy that he isn't with Hole anymore.
I don't think he sounds jealous (the music WAS better with him around ....), he's just reacting naturally to how he has been treated. So no, not jealous, bitter (a little) maybe, but what sane person wouldn't be ?
Melissa was quoted in a French magazine (Noise if I recall) saying she didn't want to have anything to do with it when she found out Courtney was reusing the name Hole. Melissa was up for a reunion.
What's with all this negativity about Eric? If it wasn't for Eric Erlandson, you wouldn't have the original Hole and you wouldn't have Courtney Love. I can understand if you don't like him, but credit where it's due, guys.
As for this actual interview, it's lengthy enough and rather interesting about her experiences here. Too bad Hole doesn't actually stop by, this month alone: Courtney's been on national radio, been featured on the cover of Hot Press, and "Pacific Coast Highway" has been one of the most played songs on radio this week.
This guy said that Courtney has turned into a cartoon and that a 45 years old woman shouldn't scream "Skinny Little Bitch". Sorry but after reading this I have no respect for him anymore.
He knows her better than you.
She has stated before that before there was a band their was Hole. They were good musicians but courtney and the name hole was the concept and the project. There are quite a few good guitarists and micko is great. She was always the main subject unlike the beatles say. Melissa is amazing but she was good for the moment and only played on one album remember. I just personally like the growth of Hole.
Growth in what sense ?
The only things i read in press that Mel said was about the risk to a full reunion if the album proceeded without Eric. I don't get the impression that Courtney has any intention of including him in future plans due to mysterious charges to her credit cards after Hole dispanded. The stuff Mel said was hardly negative / vicious etc, that I read. It was all about her having her own path now and Courtney having her own and how fantastic it was to do her schooling for the music industry with Hole. I have not read any slanderous things at all especially about the album. If anything the debate will be a good one for Mels album as it will remind music buying public who she is (that is the non Hole fans). The more you are discussed in the press and on internet sites / forums, the more likely someone is going to check out your music.
Courtney seems to accuse every man and their dog of stealing her money. Like, EVERYONE according to her stole her money. Maybe you should read the legal documents (which are available online) relating to her fight with that girl on Etsy who she accused of stealing stuff from her too. Insane. She seemed to go through a period of severe paranoia where she accused a lot of people of a lot of stuff...she seems to be calming down on the slander lately. Sorry but I seriously doubt Eric is a thief.
Sorry guys, but I am siding with Eric. The new album is a good album but it is NOT a hole album, it is a Courtney album. Courtney Love is not Hole! Hole is Eric and Courtney colloborating. I totally get what he means by, "nobody wants to hear a 45 year old woman singing Skinny little Bitch." Please don't hate on me!
Then an almost 50 years old guy shouldn't try to wear his hair like a 20 years old boy.
Rebecca, I agree with you that it would be great to have Eric in Hole again but I would rather have an Eric free Hole than no Hole at all. The two have had almost nothing to do with each other for almost 10 years. Eric brought a distinct sound to Hole no question but I think most would agree the main attraction, driving force, storyteller and all out entertainer would have to be Courtney Love. Wheather she uses the name Hole, Bastard, Solo, whatever, for me it is great. Other than Eric there was no one else in the band for more than one recorld. (Patti credited as two but was replaced with a sessions drummer). Mel only appeared on Celebrity Skin then moved on to the Pumpkins after that tour, Pretty on Inside had different drummer and bass to Live thru this and the same again for Celebrity. All up there have been about 14 members of Hole in it's life span but 1 main attraction in my opinion. Without Courtney's intense lyrical skill, dark themes and gift for performance and story telling, awsome stage pressence, do you think Hole would have even been able to make it out of the starting gates? I would love to see her perform again with Eric some day but at the moment I am loving the skill / attitude of Miko as well as the chemisty between him and Courtney. I love the album especially what Court and Miko wrote and I think they have a good chance of making this a great success. You cant always live in the past, it can be a very dark place, sometimes you need to move on. Peace.
i don't care weather it's a solo album or not. I care about the quality, and the album is awesome.
Courtney posted on her twitter account that she did NOT want to work with Melissa. Infact, she said Melissa wasn't a good enough bassist. Also, why does Courtney continue to insist Corgan wrote all these songs for her when she knows he didn't? Please explain.
Meh I still say its not Hole.
Hardy - Corgan wrote those songs with Courtney period. It was done in the studio following her rehab in 2005. Corgan can say whatever he wants but it was all documented in the documentary "The return of Courtney love" back when it was a solo album. In that documentry Corgan was praising her abilities as a song writer, performer and discussing how they wanted to get married at one stage. Corgan loves to be seen as a hero and the only reason he has done what he did was because he was dropped from the project when Courtney decided to re-record and change it to a Hole project. Many of the songs he contibuted were dropped. The few that remain are very different eg)Smantha and PCH are extreamly different to the solo demo. Corgan wanted to be the hero but the project was not working. Court did not want a repeat of Americas sweetheart or anything like thre Corgan solo disarster. Don't claim he didnt write these with her because all the evidence is there and the whole music industry is laughing at his childish tantrums. If the recorld came out the way it was, it would have finnished Courtneys career. As Courtney said - Corgan hasnt written anything good since he stopped writing about her. Peace.
"the whole music industry is laughing at his childish tantrums" like she isn't the object of derision in the industry-change the pronoun and this sentence could easily apply to Court. Face it, the album has tanked whether or not it's great--it's not-it's mediocre to decent. Courtney's a has-been which is better than a never-was. i think she tried to make a record that she thought would sell instead of following her inner voice. she appears to not be able to make great music without good collaborators. and lyrically she hasn't evolved and comes off as a high school diary poet in some songs. i'm not a "hater" i have the record and am still listening to it, traveled to see her in NY and wish her the best. But, if she cared about making music as much as she cares about the Givency dress fitting perhaps she'd be the career artist she mistakenly believes she is.
Michael_paul, you've completely misunderstood me. I'm questioning Courtney's never ending claim that she's some kind of muse and he's written all his best songs about her. That's absurd. For instance, she's said numerous times that Siamese Dream was all about her, but Corgan himself has said it was about his wife. Corgan was initially dropped from the project when Courtney had a personal falling out with Corgan and Kerry Brown in early 2007. Neither Kerry nor Billy entirely approved of what Courtney had written with Linda. They both thought it was too soft. According to Courtney, it was Billy who first suggested she bring back the name Hole. Initially, she was uncertain. I agree with you that Billy likes to play the hero. He tried to take more credit than he deserved for Celebrity Skin. Also, it was Courtney who said she thought they would get married. Corgan didn't agree. He had a girlfriend the entire time he was screwing around with Courtney in 91 and despite Courtney's nagging he refused to break up with that girl. He dumped Courtney instead. Poor Clove is probably still pissed about that.
I love all her looks and styles. But then again, that's why I'm in here.
loved the sex and the city prmiere look. I always thought Cherub Rock was inspired by her, and her beauty, but then again maybe its both that and other things too. But I do know her and Billy Corgan are real close.
