Courtney talks new solo single

From RollingStone.com:

The Hole frontwoman also revealed that she's diving back into her solo career with the release of a new single, "This is War," that comes ahead of a possible album. Love, who turned to ex-Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha to assist with production, is eyeing a February 7th release for the upbeat track. "I'd put it out right now because it's a two-minute, 59-second song and it's sick, slamming, great," Love said. "I think it'll go Number One in the U.K. However, in the United States, who fucking knows? I never thought I'd put out a 130, 135 BPM song. It's a really fast rock song. I'm telling you, it's probably the greatest rock song I've ever heard."

it better be as fucking good as she says...I adore and worship courtney, but all the same, she did alleged to "love" the Glee cover of celebrity skin...dear god courtney, dont lose your ear for rock.

"Love recently updated a status on her Twitter account stating that she was in the studio with the band and Scott Lipps recording their 5th album." is it solo or is it Hole?

Anonymous's picture

what about micko?

Anonymous's picture

Micko will be Courtney's guitarist either way guarenteed. As for what kind of album it is. I don't know where I stand on the Hole vs. Courtney Love debate. Micko had his own band before working with Courtney. It was called Larikin Love. Pity he had used it before meeting Courtney. Micko Larkin+Courtney Love=Larikin Love

Great news. I love James Iha. He has done some great solo stuff. I personally think she should call it "Courtney Love' and not Hole. People associate Hole with the older 90's lineup even though that went through a lot of changes. With Nobody's Daughter, people focused too much on the controversy around the name and not the actual music. She can avoid that by calling it Courtney Love.

Loved her but I hope it was the right move.she is acting still right?
I hope she keeps up her reputation clean this time. I love her and would not want to see this end up a big train wreck it's enough Courtney. We love you and that's the reason I want to see you do successful again by whatever means but don't f up! I hope someday to do business with you or just meet you at a show or event keep touring around US I think you are appealing more here than you may realize California is where you need to be so you can do some more California records and movies you know you did it with celebrity skin...your not 20 years old anymore so don't need to mosh and scream at daring fans you can be the lovely woman who had it all

Who cares about Michko the only way she will remain credible viable relevant is if she redeems herself with a reunion with Eric Erlandson

Anonymous's picture

I'm sure Eric doesn't want to come back. Eric's music today is far to different to Courtney's. Micko is a seriously good guitarist, probably better than Eric. The one I miss from hole is Mellisa. Courtney being the only woman in hole is a little weird.

I am very exited about single however, I'm from the UK, and as much as it could be the worlds greatest rock song, it's never going to be no.1 in UK. The industries too tough. Hole were biggest in the 90's. I expect Courtney will be as Patti Smith is now, a cool yet now more hidden (new music) artist.

Anonymous's picture

She mustn't mean the main UK chart. She might only mean the UK rock music chart, that's posible. I hope it's true if only to say to my friends I was a fan before it was cool LOL. You never know the song could be her best ever, she could buy the best PR, go on every chat show that will have her. If it was solely about good music she would be topping charts

to be in the top 10 in the UK... you would have to 1) WITHOUT fail have a killer video which is advertised on youtube. 2) Perform on quite a few major shows. Seeing as X-Factor may not happen, do Allan Carr Chatty man and Jonathan Ross again. 3) Do a few festivals deffo Glastonbury. Can't wait for song, it has a strong title. Would love a big video. The music will be there as Courtney is so talented but her songs deserve more promotion than most dross that comes out x

can't wait!!!

Fantastic news about the single, really hope the album follows !!

Holy shit. I never thought i'd hear any new music from Courtney again. Glad to hear she's not giving up. I agree with J completely about the YouTube promotion, its the way to go. Alanis Morissette seems to have benefited from it. Alan Carr chatty man, Jonathan Ross and possibly Graham Norton are a must for the UK and radio support from Radio 1/Capital .Fm wouldn't hurt either. VERY excited to hear the new single/album. Good luck!

didnt even know we still have a chart. without top of the pops does anyone care about charts anymore?

memo to Courtney - dont keep talking it up, just wait and bring it out. or you risk overhype. ps. micko blah

David's picture

Can't wait to see (and hear) more Courtney. Ever do any backstage meet and greets with fans? Twenty year dream to see her in person.

I made the huge mistake of not going to the Nobodies Daughter Tour (2010) in the UK, thinking another record would follow. I really hope Courtney tours the UK again (preferably with Hole...whatever line up I'll take it). On another note, I saw Patty Schemel in Sheffield, England last week and she was in good form promoting the 'Hit So Hard' Documentary. Looking forward to the DVD release on 26th November with all the DVD extras including the Hole reunion In New York.

can't wait for this, very excited for some new courtney material... she'll always be number one to me, no matter what the chart position and whether it's hole or courtney...

I also can't wait for This Is War! Bet It's gonna be awesome!

sal's picture

wheres new single???

Hayden.'s picture

She said that there was 8 songs complete for the upcoming album. One called "California" that has a "Malibu-esque" feel to it. I'm super psyched. Plus, she is doing photoshoots and shit. So she may be serious about putting this album out this year. But as for "This is War" I haven't heard a thing about it since she announced it.

Who the fuck cares if the album is hole or a Courtney solo album ? She's a fucking genius! Anyone who writes music as perfect as her should never stop.
